Update - May 28, 2008
Hello, hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather we have been having lately!
We just wanted to do some updating for those planning on participating in this years Chili Cook-off.
We are still in need of donations of t-shirts, tailgaiting items, race related items, ect. Cash donations are also always welcome! Volunteers to help out the day of the event are very much appreciated and after all, this event will only be successful with your help!
Chili chefs: We will be opening registration to previous chili chefs on August 1st. New chili chefs will be able to begin registering on September 2nd. With our new location, we are able to accommodate a few more entries this year, 30 in total! So, those of you who were unable to enter last year, here’s your chance. Registration will stay open until we are full.
Just a few other notes, the cook-off will be starting at 11 am and ending at 3pm. You do NOT have to purchase a ticket to that nights race to attend the cook-off, and adult beverages are allowed
Update - March 23, 2008
Hello everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Easter holiday!
We'd like start off by saying thank you to Brent Leach for allowing the use the Tilton Hilton as our location for the past few years! While the Tilton has served us well and Brent has been more than gracious, seeing the growth of the event, it was time to find ourselves a little more space!
After working with Justin Loh and Williams Grove Speedway, we are excited to announce the Cook-off will be moving into the backstretch pits this year! The cook-off will also be begining and ending earlier to accomodate the needs of the rigs arriving to enter the speedway, this will allow a little more time for you all to relax and after the event, and before entering the races yourselves! I hope you all find this news as exciting as we did!
Once again a HUGE THANK YOU to Williams Grove Speedway for allowing us to use the backstretch pits and continuing to support the chili cook-off!
Update - February 12, 2008
Well, it is that time of the year again! Time to start getting the buzz going about the 2008 Williams Grove National Open Chili Cook-off!
Let me start out by saying CONGRATULATIONS to everyone for making the 2007 Chili Cook-off the most successful yet! With the help and donations of all of you, we were able to give $1000.00 to the 47th quick timer in memory of Bill Kimmel. As well as the top 7 non-qualifying drivers in Saturday nights show also received $1000.00 each! Simply amazing!!!!
The chili chiefs really raised the bar last year with the best booth and people's choice award. You guys came up with some really creative booths and some great ways to raise money for the peoples choice award. Lefty was making and selling chili for months before the cook-off, and of course, who could forget Kevin's "Win a date with a Chili Girl"? (I know I wont be anytime soon) We hope that that same competitive spirit will continue over into this years cook-off!
This years best booth awards will be given in memory of Mike Grassmeyer, or DustyBrew as many of us knew him. Mike was the originator of the best booth award as well as a huge race fan, and a generous supporter of anything to do with raising money for the low buck driver. This years prizes were donated by a friend of DustyBrew's that wanted to see his awards continue.
Thank you to everyone who has expressed there interest in helping with this year cook-off! The race fans here in Central PA are truly one of kind! You all are an amazing group of people and this cook-off wouldn't be possible without you!
Anyone interested in becoming a part of the cook-off or donating can email
